AND GOD REMEMBERED…

I tried to find out what ‘Remember’ means in the dictionary and I came up with the followings: it means to recall to the mind by an act or effort of memory; think of again,  to retain in the memory; keep in mind; remain aware of and to have (something) come into the mind again.

I was not satisfied with what I got because I know God does not forget – He does not have mental lapse.

I had to do a little bit more of research and found out that when we say ‘God remembered’ we mean He acted on the knowledge of us that He had is on His mind.

A lot of us, if not all of us have at one time or the other had the feeling of abandonment. This is not strange as we have several examples of such in the scriptures but God remembered them.

An example is the story of Sarah in Genesis 21:1 – And the Lord visited Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did unto Sarah as he had spoken.

Also the story of Rachael and Leah in Genesis 30:22 – And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb.

Also when  the children of Israel were in Egypt under the taskmasters we were told Gid remembered them. This is in Exodus 2:23 – And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage.

We also have Hannah in 1 Samuel 1:1-19, with our emphasis on verse 19 – And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the Lord , and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the Lord remembered her.

We will be using this story as our case study as we look at the process Hannah went through for her remembrance to happen
1. She never gave up, she kept seeking God year in, year out.
2. She sought God in fasting and prayers , with heartfelt tears.
2. She made a vow
3. She was a meek woman despite all that Eli said she was not rude
4. This made her get the blessing of a Man of God
5. There was a restoration of her joy
6. She then Worshipped
7. She and her husband played their part – Elkanah knew his wife
8. Then God remembered them

And when God remembers, He delivers in totality. Our God will remember us in Jesus name.
